Innovation Services' Fall 2017 Immersive Programs

Online and Blended Learning Institute Applications due Thursday, September 7th

This professional development program is for faculty to extend the classroom-based teaching and learning through purposefully designing online components for a course. In collaboration with experienced JMU faculty members and other JMU academic units, Innovation Services will provide immersive hands-on training, services and support for blended course design, development, and teaching.

The Art of the Digital Assignment Applications due Friday, September 15th

In this six week immersive series, instructional faculty will explore research, experience digital activities, and engage with their peers and the global digital community.

Designing an Assignment: Storytelling with Maps - No application required

Everyone has a story to tell. Storytelling encourages your students to reflect on and engage more deeply with course content. Harness the power of maps to supercharge your stories.

Madison Fellowship for Digital Teaching and Learning - Applications due Tuesday, September 5th

The Madison Fellowship for Digital Teaching and Learning encourages a sustaining commitment among faculty to teaching and learning with technology when doing so promises to enrich the educational experience.  Borrowing from the fellowship model in which scholars benefit from casual interaction, peer review, and resources and experts made available, our program will strive to foster a shared sense of purpose and commitment, but enable each participant to explore their areas of interest. 

Digital Storytelling Institute II: Advanced Methods of Content Creation Applications due Sunday, September 10th

In this hands-on learning-by-doing class, you will increase your understanding and ability to use video cameras including advanced techniques with DSLRs, smartphones, and 360 cameras, equipment and techniques to set up lighting and sound for interviews and other shooting venues, and advanced video and audio editing software applications.  

Open only to those who have taken one of the following classes: Digital Storytelling in the Classroom: From A to Z, Digital Storytelling for Content Creation, or those with intermediate knowledge of video preproduction, video production and editing.
